So it’s time for our long trip down to The Abbey in what is one of the club’s biggest games in our history as we play Cambridge in the FA Cup first round.
The Nash will head into this one quite confident after we held Cambridge to a 0-0 draw 9 days ago at the Tameside Stadium in a game which many argued how Curzon were the better side. Despite our heartbreak at Brackley on Saturday, there is still a huge feel-good factor around the place ahead of this massive game tonight.
Our hosts, on the other hand, have struggled in recent times. On Saturday, they hosted Bolton, who had a man sent off, however they managed to hold Cambridge to another 0-0 draw. They sit 18th in League One at the minute, just 6 points clear of the dreaded drop zone. The U’s gaffer, Mark Bonner, spoke yesterday to their club media and stated how they ”have to be really aggressive and find a real top physical commitment to the game.”
There is an injury doubt sadly for the Nash however with midfielder and club legend Sam Walker hobbling off after an early challenge in the Brackley game on Saturday. There has been no news yet on if Sam will be fit for tonight however if he is, he’ll be a key part in making sure the Nash are able to keep possession in the middle of the park.
No matter what happens, we’re all proud of the lads for making it this far but lets hope we can go even further and set up a tie against Grimsby next week. Up the Nash!
