The Nash will make the long trip up north on Saturday afternoon to face Blyth Spartans as we look to get our first ever win at Croft Park.
Opposition watch:
Our hosts sit 22nd in the table going into Saturday's clash, still 3 points adrift from safety. Blyth will come into this one well rested however after Monday's game away to Farsley Celtic was postponed due to bad weather. This will have allowed them to focus completely on the Nash as they look to pick up vital points in their battle to safety. Possible motivation for survival could come from the fact their local rivals, South Shields gained promotion to the National League North earlier this week so a local derby awaits the Spartans if they can survive. The previous meeting between the sides was at the Tameside Stadium back ona. foggy december night where Blyth's win was slightly overshadowed by a late red card for Craig Hobson, who left Curzon to join our local rivals back in January.
Team news:
The Nash have no real selection issues going into Saturday's game. However, the gaffer may look to switch things up despite the good form. The workload over the bank holiday seemed to take its toll on the squad with numerous players looking exhausted towards the end of Monday's win. This shouldn't be too much of a problem with the Nash having a strong bench, alongside the starting 11.
Blyth have no new injury problems going into Fridays game. However, they did lose striker Troy Chiabi on wednesday afternoon after he left the club. The Zambian forward has been key for the Spartans this season in the short time hes been there, scoring 6 goals during his time at the club.
Nash watch:
The Nash will attempt to break another record on Saturday as we look to make it 8 games unbeaten, a which would be a new record for the club at this level. This would add to the numerous records broken by the club (most clean sheets and most points) after Monday's 1-0 win against Spennymoor Town. A win against Blyth could see Curzon go within a point of the playoff places. However, players and staff aren't getting ahead of themselves with both Chris Renshaw and Adam Lakeland saying on monday that everyone is just "taking it one game at a time." When looking forward to this game, Lakeland also said how this will be "our toughest game of the run in." This is backed up by Curzon's previous record against Blyth, having only beaten the north east side once in 14 attempts.
It's a huge game at both ends of the table and Lakeland's men need your support on saturday and in all of our remaining fixtures. Please do your best to get down to as many games as possible to show your support!
