Alfreton Town vs Curzon match preview

Updated: Feb 7, 2023

Tuesday will see the Nash travel to Derbyshire to face Alfreton Town in the first of two meetings between the sides this month. Curzon come into this one off the back of a 3-1 loss against Fylde on Saturday in a very tough game.

Opposition watch:

Our hosts on Tuesday sit 10th in the table and are unbeaten in their last 6 games- winning three and drawing three. Alfreton played hosts to Boston United on Saturday in a game where they came out victorious, picking up a 3-1 win. The danger man for the hosts is likely to be their top scorer Matthew Read who has scored 8 goals in the league this season. Alfreton's manager, Billy Heath, has been in charge since 2018 and has averaged 1.4 points per game throughout his reign.

Team news:

The Nash will finally have Connor Dimaio available for selection again on Tuesday now that he has served his 4 game suspension for his red card against Southport over a month ago. Curzon fans may also be able to see more of new left back Finlay Armstrong who came on as a substitute to make his debut on Saturday. This news will be a big relief to Nash fans as the club has been without a natural left back since Connor Hampson's departure before Christmas. New striker Jimmy Spencer will also be available for the Nash after making the switch from Farsley Celtic on Tuesday afternoon. In terms of injury doubts, Lakeland said after Fylde that Josh Hancock was suffering from a hamstring strain and "is a doubt for Tuesday" so Curzon fans will have to wait and see if the in form man is available for the trip to Alfreton

Head to head:

The two sides have faced each other 38 times since 1981 with Curzon winning 8 of those, drawing 11 and losing 19 of them. This meeting between the sides is the first of the season with this fixture previously being postponed due to Curzon's progression in the FA Cup earlier in the season. The sides did face off three times last season (twice in the league and once in the FA Trophy), with Tuesday's hosts getting the better of the Nash in all three meetings.

It's set to be a tough game for Lakeland's men again on Tuesday as we look to bounce back from Saturday's disappointment. Hopefully as many of you as possible can make the trip to Derbyshire to support the team!
