Curzon have hit form just at the right time under Adam Lakeland. The Nash have climbed up to 10th in the table now after picking up 5 wins in our last 6 games, the only team who beat us in this period are league leaders, Fylde. This run was sparked by a big 5-2 win at home against Farsley almost a month ago. This was the first time we had seen Lakeland return to a back three formation since last season, something we have struggled to do previously due to our lack of options at centre half. This meant George Waring has come into the back three in between the established partnership of Devon Matthews and Marcus Poscha. Despite struggling at first, giving away a couple of penalties, George has slotted nicely into the defence and is looking more solid by the game.
Another big reason for Curzon's sudden up turn in fortune is Lakeland's recruitment. The additions of Jimmy Spencer, Hayden Campbell and Finlay Armstrong have all looked excellent so far. The Nash also have another new man on their ranks with Dylan Boyle joining on loan and making his debut on Tuesday. Credit has to go to Lakeland for this after he took a risk in bringing in a man he knows well in Jimmy Spencer who has had a lightning fast start to life at Curzon- scoring 4 and getting 3 assists so far. Finlay Armstrong has also come into the side and looks a worthy replacement to Connor Hampson at left back.
The Nash may be getting results now but not only that, the football on display is so entertaining to watch. With the front three of Peers, Spencer and Campbell, Curzon are able to just knock the ball around so freely with each member of that attack having their own roles which Lakeland, Brownie and Jack have clearly worked so hard on perfecting in training.
This past week for the Nash has been given it's deserved recognition with Adam Lakeland picking up the Vanarama Manager of the Week- a much deserved award.
It's certainly an exciting time to be a Curzon fan so we need your support whenever we can. Get down to the Tameside Stadium on Saturday to support the lads!
