Inside the dressing room- Jordan Richards

In this week's instalment of Inside The Dressing Room, we speak to Curzon's number 17, Jordan Richards about life at Curzon, him recently reaching 50 appearances for the club and his thoughts ahead of this weekend's home game against Gloucester City FC.

Q: You made your 50th appearance for the club recently, what has been the highlight for you since joining The Nash?

A: I’m glad to have played 50 games for the club and I hope to play many more. I think it’s a fantastic club, with top people and ran very professionally. Highlights for me would be the fa cup run we had this year where we unfortunately just fell short and probably Darlington away last season, to score a freekick with my family there doesn’t happen often.

Q: You obviously have a great relationship with the gaffer, how vital has that been to you since making the switch from Farsley? A: It was a big factor in coming to curzon, I’ve enjoyed my football the most I’ve ever done playing for the gaffer, I know what he expects on and off the pitch and I like to think I hold the same standards and expectations as him. That paired with the whole environment of the club was perfect for me really.

Q: Another game on Saturday against a side having a better season than us in Gloucester, are we expecting a tougher game than we would maybe like?

A: Every game is tough in this league, and I wouldn’t judge anyone’s season until the final game is done. We can beat any team when we are at our best, and to back Tuesdays win up on Saturday and start a little run of form going again, we will then only be 7 points behind Gloucester having played 2 games fewer.

Q: We’re going into the Gloucester game off the back of a brilliant win against Alfreton, does that give us the confidence we need to kick on?

A: A massive win on Tuesday at a tough place to go in Alfreton. Recently our form has started to pick back up and I think the challenge is to now back that up on Saturday which everyone will be prepared and we are more than capable of doing so.

Q: We announced the signing of Jimmy Spencer on Tuesday afternoon, are you looking forward to linking up with him again after you played with him at Farsley? A: Jimmy is a great addition to the squad. He’s a top striker and I’ve witnessed that on many occasions. He won’t only bring goals himself he will bring the best out in the players around him. I have a great understanding with him on and off the pitch and hopefully that will show.

Q: We’ve seen you in a number of different roles this season, has that been a challenge you have relished or has It made it difficult to find consistency?

A: I just enjoy playing football, I don’t mind where I play whether it’s higher up on the wing, right back or somewhere else to help the team. I think I’m an honest player who will always give everything to win for the lads and everyone connected to the club.

Huge thanks to Jordan for taking the time to do this interview. And don't forget, Curzon are back at the Tameside Stadium on Saturday afternoon so make sure to get down there to support the lads!
